Term #2 - IMAGERY

definition:
Imagery is just like making words have images in them, they cast up the images while we read poems, they evoke feelings, senses like smelling, seeing, feeling, tasting and hearing. Borrowing images, the writer can tell the readers how things are like, rather than write something which actually means like that.
example:

The tree’s aglow with colors of red, green, blue, and orange,
The heat’s toasty arms warmly embrace us.
Presents under the Christmas tree
Beg to be released from their bright, sparkling coats.
Santa Claus cookies washed down with boiling, hot chocolate;
Shouts of glee and appreciation;
Hearts overflowing with love;
This is what Christmas feels like.
significance
Language arts would be extremely tedious without  imagination, and images. Imagery makes poetry more beautiful, colorful,  and meaningful. With imagery, the poems will not be shallow, imagery allows the writer to express his/her  thoughts more deeply and as well as the readers understand and try to get the poems more.
